Vortioxetine is used to treat depression. It works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain. Effectiveness appears to be nearly same with other antidepressants. Vortioxetine can be used when other treatments have failed. Vortioxetine hydrochloride appears to work in depressed patients with anxiety.
